This Mexican Cantina was opened in Royal Windsor in 1987, and has been going strong ever since. This is a popular place to go because there is authentic Mexican food, awesome drink selections, dancing, and DJ’s. The design is set up in none other than a Latina style within a 100 year old brick arch.
The dishes offered here are very authentic and some of the specialties Charley’s Horse has to offer include salsa, guacamole, and nachos. Quesadilla soup, sopa del dia, guacamole dip, and chili con queso are among the popular appetizers you can order. When it comes to the main dish, some popular food choices include chimichangas, enchilada suizas, taco mexicanos, and many other Mexican delights. Mexican style fish is also a popular item on the menu, including camarones almojo de ajo, and redsnapper veracruz. Although many enjoy this place for the Mexican style food, there is sirloin steak, charcoal chicken, and the Charley Horse burger for those who are not fond of Mexican food. Charley’s Horse has a type of food that will satisfy everyone’s taste buds. With dinner you can enjoy several drinks including cocktails, Mexican beers, and wines. After dinner you can indulge in many of the delicious desserts on offer. Some of these include capirotada (Mexican bread pudding), chocolate parfaits, and manzana burrito (apples and raisins wrapped in a flour tortilla and ice cream on top). Feel free to bring the kids along too; there is a kid’s menu with food your children can enjoy.
If you don’t feel like eating out, you can still come to Charley’s horse for drinks, and dancing. There is a huge dance floor for you to get your groove on. The bar has seven different types of Mexican style beers, thirty different styles of tequila as well as Mexican wines. Charley’s Horse has a drink that everyone can enjoy which is the margarita they are famous for. There are live DJs at the bar every Friday and Saturday night. Some of the Dj’s that perform at the bar include Dj Webby, Dom, Ian, and Georgina. They can play any requests that you make from the latest music you hear playing on the radio, to music you loved back in the 80’s. There is a little bit of something for adults of all ages!
